Service Description

Including borehole investigations, soil classification, laboratory testing interpretation, settlement analysis, bearing capacity assessment, slope stability modelling, groundwater impact assessment, and deep foundation design. All deliverables are prepared in accordance with AS 1726 (Geotechnical Site Investigations), AS 2870, and relevant Australian Standards. Our reports include detailed foundation recommendations, retaining wall pressures, excavation requirements, and site-specific engineering controls. Any modifications observed during the excavation procedure are our responsibility. For house projects, geotechnical investigations typically require boreholes between 3 and 6 metres deep, extending up to 8 metres where soil conditions demand it, with 2 to 4 boreholes generally sufficient. For a medium-rise building (3–10 storeys), borehole depths increase to 10–20 metres, often drilling to rock, with 3 to 6 or more boreholes required across the footprint. High-rise buildings (10–30+ storeys) require deep geotechnical assessment, with boreholes commonly extending 20–40 metres or deeper, including 5–10 metres of rock coring, and a minimum of 6 to 12 boreholes. For developments involving basements, boreholes must extend below the final excavation level and 2–5 metres into the bearing layer, with 3 to 10 boreholes depending on basement size. In soft or marine ground conditions, investigations typically range from 20 to 50 metres deep, often supplemented with CPT (Cone Penetration Testing), and require 6 to 12 or more boreholes to properly characterise ground behaviour.
